Emily and Joshua's Wedding!!!

Happy almost Halloween to you...We figured that it is high time once again to write another blog posting about recent happenings in our small but beautiful world.  I will be attending a Halloween party this weekend, and will be dressed as a woman in a dress carrying a cute little baby (I'll be playing both the woman and the baby; more to follow)...

Lauren and I continue to be quite busy with the post-processing of 2006 wedding season imagery, etc.  Thankfully, we have only one additional wedding to photograph for the 2006 wedding season (in Cooperstown, NY).  We truly do love our work, but even we creative types need some time to recoup between each busy season (although it is not unusual for us to book Christmas and New Years Eve weddings).

Recently, Lauren and I had the honor to photograph the particularly beautiful wedding of Emily and Josh at the Fontainebleau (which is definitely one of our favorite places in the world to do our magic).  The Fontainebleau is located in a stunningly beautiful and rural setting in the village of Alpine, New York (between Ithaca and Watkins Glen, NY).  The Fontainebleau is a historic 1814 estate which was chosen by Samuel Lawrence (NYC real estate mogul, etc) a little more than two hundred years ago.  Here is an image of the front side of the Fontainebleau in the early evening during Emily and Joshua's wedding:

Upon our arrival at the Fontainebleau, Lauren and I were delighted to find many of our favorite wedding service providers at this wedding (who are all exceptionally creative, passionate, and professional), which defintely includes Terri and John VanSoest, the owners of the Fontainebleau (and of course their excellent staff).  Lauren and I know that when we work with these vendors, the wedding is going to be a particluarly beautiful, successful, and unique one due to the quality, creativity, personality, and passion that these service providers provide.

Emily and Josh also enlisted the services of Tara Reimer of Terra Rosa (http://www.terra-rosa.com/), who is a good friend and wedding planner extraordinaire of the Ithaca/Fingerlakes area.  Tara did a superb job as usual and helped this wedding to go very smoothly.  Makeup was done by Kris Kellogg (phone: 315-406-5758), a true creative professional who's work is second to none.  Occasionally, Kris will arrive with a small army of Mac Makeup Specialists depending upon the size of the event.

Flowers for this wedding were done by two excellent florists, Michaeleens (http://www.michaleens.com/), and Audrey of Plenty of Posies (phone:607-564-7416), who is known for her striking "wildflower" arrangements.  Here are a couple of examples of some of the many gorgeous flowers at this beautiful wedding:

Kate and Tina of Word of Mouth Catering (email: wordofmouth@zoom-dsl.com) and their staff did an exceptional job of preparing incredible cuisine for the wedding reception as is always the case.  Kate and Tina are beautiful and loving women who are incredible at what they do (and a lot of fun to be around).  Cornell Catering prepared the Kosher food, and also did an excellent job.  Jorge of Jorge Visions (http://www.jorgevisions.com/) did the videography, and Jorge also always does an excellent job.

As far as music goes, Josh Modney's srting quartet (518) 817-3380 provided beautiful ceremony music, and DJ Nicky Wood (http://www.nickywood.com/) provided his world-class London-style DJ service.  Also, Joanna Saccucci-Bryan of Blue Wave Pastries ((607) 387-9774) created the cake which was also beautiful and delicious.  This was the first time that Lauren and I crossed paths with Joanna and her work.

The wedding ceremony was an exceptionally unique, heartfelt, and beautiful one.  I don't often cry during weddings, but this one had me emoting big-time (as in tears coming out of my eyes, etc) as it was so beautiful.  This happens to me perhaps once every three years or so.  The ceremony took place on the large, expansive grounds behind the Fontainebleau Inn, and everyone in the wedding party walked gracefully and mindfully through the one hundred yard long corridor of guests which stretched from the inn on top of the hill, all the way down to the ceremony site down by the lake.  Last, but certainly not the least, Emily and her bridesmaids sang a beautiful song as they floated down the hill amidst the seemingly endless corridor of family and friends as they descended to the ceremony site (which is when I began to cry, happily that is)..
